The man behind former Health minister David Parirenyatwa’s woes over circumstances surrounding his employment has been acquitted by a Harare magistrate on one of his charges but will however stand trial on the other one.
Harare magistrate Hosea Mujaya found National Pharmaceutical Company (Natpharm) former acting general manager Newman Madzikwa not guilty of corruptly awarding a $10 million tender to a Danish company after the close of the State’ s case.
Mujaya came to the conclusion after the State led by Zivanai Macharaga conceded that there was no evidence proving that the crime had in fact been committed.
However, Madzikwa will proceed to his defense on allegations of hiking health levy fees from four to 15 percent.
Mujaya said Madzikwa had a case to answer as the State had raised triable issues which needed clarification.
