A HARARE woman is in trouble with the law after being found in possession of dangerous drugs namely cocaine.
Former model Priscilla Chigariro is under police investigation after law enforcement agents received a tip-off of irregular activities at Chigariro’s Ballantyne Park home involving cocaine.
It is not clear if Chigariro has been charged with possession of drugs, either for personal use or with intent to sell.
Sources close to Chigariro say police were tipped-off after the party at the property on Thursday December 5, at which witnesses say drugs and alcohol were used in excess in front of a baby.
A search and seizure warrant was obtained by police on December 11 with the magistrate who granted the order noting “there are reasonable grounds for believing that the occupier of number 3 Tyward Close, Ballantyne Park is in possession of or in control of dangerous drugs at the house namely cocaine.”
The order further reads “Section 50 (b) subsection (1) reads on article referred to section 49 shall be seized only by virtue of warrant issued.”
“By Magistrate of Justice if it appears to the magistrate or Justice Peace from information on oath that there are reasonable grounds for believing that any such article is in the possession or under the control of and the person or upon or in any premise or area within his area of jurisdiction.”
The order concludes: “These are therefore in the state’s name that immediately by night or day proceed to number 3 Tyward Close, Ballantyne Park Harare and there obtain or take into your custody the above mentioned drugs namely cocaine.”
The search and seizure warrant ordered the police to take the drugs to the police station or other place of safety where they shall be held until the matter is finalized or until further orders from court are given.
Chigariro who is founder of Zimbabwe Fashion Week could not be reached for comment at the time of publishing.
