Mashonaland Central based girls Under 20 high school football team, Gweshe High crashed out in the quarter finals of the national championships but the players cherish the historic experience in the resort town of Victoria Falls.
It was a dream came true for the majority of the players for setting foot in Vic Falls for the first time.
“It was a great experience for us, although we lost in the quarter finals we enjoyed the hospitality we got in Vic Falls.
‘We became more like tourists,” said one student.
Gweshe High School is located in the peripheries of Chiweshe and for many of the students, it was a dream visit.
Gweshe girls played against Mosi-oa-tunya and Sodbury in the first round.
The team proceeded into the next round after thrashing Mosi-oa-tunya 2-1 at Chinotimba Stadium and fell to 2-1 to Sodbury.
Gweshe top scorer was Calister Mafadzwa Vheremu who banged five goals.
The gaffer Njabulo Maphosa said he satisfied with the team’s performance and it was a learning curve.
