Court throws out Job Sikhala freedom bid again

A Harare court on Tuesday threw out a fresh bail application by CCC legislator Job Sikhala as he spent his 77th day behind bars.

Sikhala’s legal team had filed a fresh bail bid for bond on changed circumstances.

Sikhala had mounted his bid before Harare regional magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje.

He is charged with obstructing or defeating the course of justice after he allegedly posted a video on social media calling for revenge for the killing of Moreblessing Ali in the Nyatsime area in July this year.

Reacting to the latest bail dismissal, CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said “bail is a constitutional entitlement. This persecution must stop.”
