Court releases Ginimbi’s passport

A Harare magistrate has granted the application by  flamboyant businessman Genius Ginimbi Kadungure’s passport on Friday.

Magistrate Barbra Mateko  ordered Ginimbi to return the passport on August 28.

“A temporary release of passport from today up to August 28 and also a temporary suspension of reporting conditions is hereby granted,”. ruled Mateko

Ginimbi was represented by top lawyer Jonathan Samukange who submitted  that his client wanted to travel to South Africa for a business trip.

The  State led by Sebastian Mutizirwa did not oppose the application.

Allegations are that  between February 2009 and May 2016, his company Piko Trading Private Limited misrepresented to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) that it made total sales of $2 777 678, inclusive of Value Added Tax, when in actual fact the company had made sales amounting to $9 092 951.

ZIMRA suffered a prejudice of $417 940, and Kadungure is also  accused of evading tax in his personal capacity, with ZIMRA suffering a total prejudice of $3 468 949.
