CRIMES of passion and murder are on the increase following reports that a 33-year-old woman killed her husband’s second wife aged 21 after the two had been involved in a dispute over laundry duties, Zim Morning Post has learnt.
Expressing concern over the prevailing murder cases in Masvingo and Karoi province, Police spokesman Paul Nyathi said violence is not a yardstick to measure and settle disputes.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is concerned with the spate of murder cases that are occurring around the country and condemns the use of violence to settle disputes,” he said
“On 31 July 2019 at around 1200hrs a 33year old woman killed her husband’s second wife aged 21 in village 3 Mkazi, Mkwasine after the two had been involved in a dispute over laundry duties .The victim was stuck on the back of the head with a cooking and she died upon admission at Mashoko Hospital, Masvingo.”
In another incident which occurred on the same date around 2100 hours at village 9, Chikuti an 85 year old woman was assaulted by two male adults ,Nochance Madzima (33) and Norest Tsvongora (27), after accusing her of having bewitched their friend who are of the same village, set three huts on fire and when the woman went out to investigate ,she was stuck on the forehead and fell down. The suspects burnt the victim using thatching grass and she sustained burns which led to her death upon admission at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospitals.
In the two incidents mentioned above all the suspects are still at large.
Police said they are appealing to the members of the public who have information which can lead to the arrest of the suspects.
“ZRP urges the public to seek counseling in order to resolve disputes without resorting to taking the law into own hands,” Nyathi.
