AMarondera man who is answering to charges of negligent driving after he rammed into Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s motorcade has denied ever being negligent and pinned the accident on the negligence of Chiwenga’s driver instead.
Denis Chiwawa is appearing before Harare magistrate Ramaboa.
It is allegedly that he hit Chiwenga’s lead car in November last year when he was driving in Harare l.
According to the State, the accident occurred on November 23 2018 when the accused was driving his Toyota Corolla along Samora Machel Avenue due West.
It is alleged, Pepukai Chimire an employee with the President’s office was driving the lead car on the detail, a Toyota Gilux Revo due South along Glenara Road.
At the intersection of Samora Machel and Glenara Road, traffic lights were green in favour of vehicles along Glenara Road due South and red to vehicles along Samora Machel Road.
Court heard Chiwawa did not stop and drove against traffic.
Resultantly, his vehicle rammed against Chimire’s vehicle on the front passenger seat.
Prosecutor Isheunesu Mhiti said he was speeding.
