Chivayo trial kicks off

The trial for businessman and socialite, Wicknel Chivayo has kick-started at the Harare Magistrate’s court with one of the directors for the Zimbabwe Power Company, Hubert  Chiwara testifying.

Chiwara testified to the effect that Chivayo’s Intratek did begin work on the site of the project but it was not completed and was still not useful in its present state. The court further heard that the tender to Intratrek was issued above board.

“The final product that was supposed to be delivered has not yet been delivered but all the payments made by ZPC were towards the project. Accused did put some structures on the site but they are yet to be of value to ZPC when they are finalised,” he said.

The matter was postponed to March 8 for trial continuation as Chivayo’s lead counsel Lewis Uriri was engaged at the High Court.
