HARARE – Zimbabwe has officially launched the National Polio Vaccination Campaign which runs from 27 to 30 October 2022 targeting to vaccinate and protect at least 95% of the 2 556 800 children under five years in the country.

Officiating the launch, Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care, John C Mangwiro, said the national vaccination drive is being implemented in collaboration with Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia and Mozambique.

The programme is aimed at responding and mitigating the impact of re-emerging polio outbreaks so far reported in Malawi and Mozambique.

In a statement the ministry said: “In the spirit of leaving no one behind the Ministry together with partners, UNICEF Zimbabwe and WHO Zimbabwe, will deploy teams to conduct ‘house-to-house and door-to-door’ mobilization and vaccination in all areas in the country.”
