Chamisa wary of ZANU PF infiltration at congress

Masvingo- MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa is suspicious of ZANU PF infiltration in the party’s elective congress scheduled for May 24 to May 26.

Chamisa made the sentiments while addressing party supporters in  Masvingo during the preparations of the Provincial congress on Monday afternoon.

“The whole process has been transparent and we are happy but we will not underestimate ZANU PF’s interest in our congress,” said Chamisa.

Speculative reports have fingered secretary general Douglas Mwonzora as a threat to Chamisa’s presidency and that he was a ZANU PF agent but Mwonzora categorically stated that he will be gunning to retain the secretary general’s position at the national elective congress.

He told party supporters about his position over the weekend in Mutare and cleared the air.

Chamisa warned violent and rogue elements that he will not hesitate to expel them.

“We say no to violence, anyone found wanting will be dealt with accordingly. We will expel rogue elements from the party.Do not say you have been kicked out. We will always leave the door open for all those who lost their way but when you come back you will start from the bottom,” he said.

He emphasized that the  nomination and voting process will be open to audit

Chamisa said prophets of doom were misguided to predict the split of the party.

“ MDC is in safe hands and has grown bigger and better.

-there is no split going to happen. Those who want to leave the door is open,” said Chamisa.
