THE High Court of Zimbabwe on Friday dismissed an application by the MDC Alliance in which it sought a reversal of the MDC-T’s recent take over of the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai (formerly Harvest) House.
In throwing out the application by MDC Alliance, High Court judge David Mangota said the Nelson Chamisa-led opposition had lied to the court, claiming possession of a leasehold from what they said were owners of the building.
The Respondents, however, argued that the MRT House had always been a legal persona, with both the right to represent and defend itself from dispossession ever since the party’s formation in 1999.
This is only one of the several court applications the MDC Alliance has lost against the MDC-T since last year.
The Nelson Chamisa-led opposition this year lost a bid to have the courts rule in its favour in the fight for the party’s presidency at the Supreme Court.
The ruling today (Friday) concerning the citadel of MDC politics marked what could be the final nail into litigations between the two rival opposition entities.
