Chadzamira, Cold Storage scam reveals more skeletons

Anti-corruption authorities are closing the net on Minister of State for Masvingo Province Ezra Chadzamira regarding allegations that he handed over Cold Storage Company (CSC)’s Masvingo abattoir to Italian investors without following due process, Zim Morning Post can report.

Chadzamira is facing other corruption related charges that include looting assets at Cold Storage Commission (CSC) when the company went under.

On Monday Chadzamira was picked up by Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) on allegations of corruption involving sugarcane plots at Kilimanjaro in Chiredzi. He was taken to Masvingo Magistrates Court for a hearing before later being released.

“He gave the Masvingo abattoir to Italian investors despite Boustead having signed an agreement with the government. He has been abusive to the new CSC investor and has issued various threats,” said a source.
Zim Morning Post understands that Chadzamira is also alleged to have banned new CSC investors from visiting the Masvingo ranch.

“CSC top brass was banned from Masvingo. The Masvingo ranch has been given to one Sithole and also an illegal quarry is now operating there,” added the insider.
Sources who spoke to Zim Morning Post alleged that Chadzamira abused his office and power in Masvingo to grab properties belonging to CSC without following due process.

Chadzamira is also alleged to have depleted CSC’s herd by clandestinely buying cattle without following due procedure.

He allegedly used his influence to invade farms in Masvingo province including the CSC Masvingo ranch, it is alleged.

“Allegations are that there was an unsanctioned auction which was held at CSC and Chadzamira bought more than one hundred cattle belonging to CSC. He is accused of participating in the auction alone,” reviewed a well-placed source.
