Barbra Rwodzi appointed Tourism deputy minister

Chirúmanzu South Legislator Barbra Rwodzi has been appointed Deputy Minister for Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality.

TheZimbabwean entrepreneur and politician will deputise Mangliso Ndlovu who is at the helm of the ministry.

Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet Misheck Sibanda made the announcement on Thursday saying the appointment is with immediate effect.

“In terms of section 104(2) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe(Amendment No.20) of 2013, His Excellency, the President, Cde E.D Mnangagwa, has made the following appointment: Honourable Barbra Rwodzi, Member of Parliament for Chirumanzu, Midlands Province, as Deputy Minister for Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry,” Sibanda said.

“Honourable Rwodzi is a holder of a Masters of Business Administration Degree and a Bachelor of Honours Degree in Business Studies.She is a successful businesswoman who owns a number of companies with interests in energy solutions, financial services, clothing and community development projects. The appointment is with immediate effect,” added Sibanda.

Rwodzi hogged the limelight mid 2021 in South Africa at the Pan African Parliament (PAP) where she spiritedly blocked PAP elections demanding rotation of the organ’s presidency.

PAP Southern African members brought scheduled PAP presidential elections to a standstill after launching a campaign to end a status quo that only allows candidates from East and West Africa to contest for the coveted PAP presidency.

The Pan-African Parliament has been led by a president drawn from west Africa since its formation in 2004.
