A manager at one of Harare’s top joints appeared in court yesterday on allegations of raping a 13-year-old girl twice on the night of November 9.
Ronald Ngwenya (40) was not asked to plead to the charges when he appeared before regional magistrate Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa charged with rape.
Ngwenya was remanded in custody to January 9 and was advised that only the High Court could rule on a bail application.
The State alleges that at around 1am, Ngwenya allegedly sneaked into the sleeping teenager’s bedroom and raped her. After some minutes, Ngwenya is said to have returned to the room and assaulted her for the second time.
The girl informed her relatives, who helped her report the assaults to the police leading to his arrest on charges of rape.
Mr Lancelot Mutsokoti appeared for the State while lawyer Mr Liveours Mundieta represented Ngwenya.
