Assaulted farm workers granted bail

Tariro Mundawarara and Samuel Mundawarara who were arrested on 30 September on charges of criminal trespassing and hunting without a permit, have been granted bail of $30 000 each and remanded to 19 October.

The two, who are farm workers, were looking for their stray cattle and allegedly encroached into a neighbouring farm where they were apprehended by guards and severely tortured before being handed to the police.

They were taken to the hospital where they were medically attended to before being brought to Norton Magistrates Court for remand. Cases of use of brute brutality and torture antics by security guards are on a rise.

Their lawyer, Noble Chinhanu, placed the complaints against the police when he made submissions on bail.
