Sikhala, Sithole remain at Chikurubi after High Court denies bail

HARARE – Zengeza West MP Job Sikhala and Chitungwiza North legislator Godfrey Sithole will remain incarcerated at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison after Justice Mungwari dismissed their bail appeal after ruling that if released on bail, the two are likely to disturb public order or undermine public order or security.

The two have been in custody since June 14 when they were arrested on charges of inciting violence.

Meanwhile, Human rights lawyer Roselyn Hanzi has asked the High Court to stop Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services from barring her from consulting in private with her clients.

The human rights lawyer wants the High Court to order ZPCS to allow her to consult in private with her clients and to compel authorities at the correctional facility to act in line with provisions of the Constitution.

This comes after ZPCS denied Hanzi access to consult with Sikhala and Sithole despite her producing a valid Practicing Certificate which allows her access to clients at all places of detention.
