- MDC dubs 2020 year of demonstrations
- Chamisa says party to confront government in Parliament and streets
MDC leader Nelson Chamisa on Tuesday declared 2020 a year of demonstrations in protest over the toxic socioeconomic environment in the country.
Addressing mostly MDC party supporters in Mbare at a rally dubbed “2020 Agenda”, Chamisa said:
“This year is going to be a year of demonstrations and action.”
The MDC leader’s remarks come at a time Zim Morning Post reported that the party – together with civil society – was planning to roll out demonstrations to commemorate the January 15, 2019 Nationwide protests.
Chamisa further said his party would not allow government to shred into pieces a Constitution voted for by Zimbabweans in 2013.
He said the party would fight against the constitutional amendments recently suggested by Cabinet, both in Parliament and on the streets.
