Tenderpreneurs Chimombe and Mpofu Face New Fraud Allegations over US$550K Mbare Tender
Tenderpreneurs Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, currently in remand for fraud, are now facing a new allegation over a staggering US$550K Mbare tender.
Shady Schemes Exposed

According to reports, the duo were awarded a tender to construct a bio-digester in Mbare and the Green Market, with the funds provided by the European Union and Harare City Council. However, nothing was delivered except for just holes that were dug.

Journalist Condemns Lack of Accountability
Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono expressed his views toward the exposure of the tender. He stated, “Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu should be held accountable for their actions. The fact that they received a tender and then delivered next to nothing is a disgrace. What is more disgraceful is ZACC’s lack of action.”

Bail Denied

Chimombe and Mpofu had hoped to return home and await trial from the comfort of their own homes, but Harare regional magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa dashed those hopes.

In her ruling, the magistrate stated that the duo were wealthy individuals who could easily flee the country, and no bail conditions would prevent them from doing so.

Fraud Accusations Mount
The latest allegations come as Chimombe and Mpofu face charges for defrauding the government of over US$7 million under the presidential goat scheme. The duo allegedly forged documents for Mpofu’s company, Blackdeck Private Limited, to secure a tender to supply and deliver goats.
