ZIMBABWE national football team will have to secure an alternative venue for the Warriors’ 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Algeria after the South African Football Association (Safa) advised Orlando Stadium is no longer available.
Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) had agreed with Safa on Monday for the game to be played at Orlando Stadium in Soweto before the association wrote to Zifa advising that the stadium was no longer available.
The match had been moved to South Africa after CAF banned stadiums in Zimbabwe from hosting football as they do not meet international standards.
“Initially they said Orlando was available,” Zifa president Felton Kamambo Thursday told a Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Sport.
The only available venue is Dobsonville Stadium in the same area but SAFA also need to engage their government, before a decision is made Kamambo said.
