Gokwe Nembudziya Member of Parliament Mayor Justice Wadyajena is being tipped to take over the position of Youth League Secretary from the beleaguered Pupurai Togarepi.
The youth league passed the decision on Wednesday and the matter was referred to the party’s national disciplinary committee to handle it. Some of the members who were suspended include Tendai Chirau, who is the secretary for administration, Admire Mahachi and Mercy Mugomo.
Some of the names who are being tipped to take over the Youth league include Former Zimbabwe Congress of Students Union (ZICOSU President) Tonderai Chidawa, former deputy finance Minister Terence Mukupe, Godfrey Tsenengamu and Tapiwa Masenda.
Contacted for comment Chidawa expressed his willingness to be part of the Youth League leadership saying he cannot deny mandate from the President and Zanu Pf youth.
“Who am I to deny a mandate from the President and my fellow Youths in ZANU PF, we are here to defend and protect the values of the Party.” said Chidawa.
However, Deputy minister of Information Energy Mutodi is also eying to be the next Youth league boss something he expressed on his Microblogging site Twitter.
“I am ready to serve as the ZANU PF Secretary for the Youth League if President ED Mnangagwa chooses me. I am committed to the establishment of an informed, vibrant, vigilant & empowered youth league for the good of our party ZANU PF & for the greater good of Zimbabwe.” wrote Mutodi.
Contacted for comment Wadyajena asked for questions to be sent via text message but he did not respond by the time of publication.
A source told the Zimbabwe Morning Post that some members within the ruling party are tussling for positions and they are not sparing the Youth LeagueAllegedly there are two factions, one aligned to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the other one fronting for ailing Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
