Victory is certain – MDC Alliance

The country’s continuous economic turmoil that has had a huge impact on many citizens will weigh in favour of MDC Alliance in Nyanga South ward 26 by-election slated for this Saturday, the party has said.

MDC Alliance candidate Vincent Bopoto will stand against Bisset Mapeta of Zanu PF. Nyanga South ward 26 fell vacant after the death of MDC Alliance councillor Elias Mashumba.

Bopoto told Zimbabwe Morning Post on Thursday that massive door to door campaigns that the party has been embarking on especially in
areas that used to be Zanu PF stronghold areas have been a clear
testimony that the people were longing for better lives.

“The campaigns were very successful. We toured every compound and
household and you could see that people are really desperate for
change,” said Bopoto.

“We toured other areas including war veterans’ stronghold of
Nyakupinga area. Everybody needs change and everybody is suffering,” said
Bopoto.

“Their only hope is MDC led by Advocate Nelson Chamisa. We are going to do our best to retain the seat,” he said.

The MDC Alliance provincial spokesperson David Panganayi said the
party had a strong team that was campaigning in the ward.

“We feel aggrieved by the loss of our ward 26 councillor in Nyanga
South. As a party, our members and supporters have vowed that the
party would retain the seat come the election day,”
Panganai said.

“Our party leadership virtually camped in the ward campaigning and I
can safely say victory is very certain,”
he added.

MDC Alliance has been embarking on door to door campaigns to drum up support for its candidate.
