Updated: Soldier shot dead at Mann Goodhope gold-rush site

A 28-YEAR-OLD Zimbabwe National Army officer on Tuesday was fatally shot while trying to force his way into a fenced gold-rush site in Kadoma

On January 7, the now deceased Kudakwashe Hoko was in the company of his friends, Kingstone Lupoko (30), Tembelani Ndlovu (28), Kudakwashe Gwanda (27), Brian Mateuro(24) and Colleen Demo(28).

The four stormed the gold-rush site in the company of the deceased while armed with an axe.

Former security guards Lyton Takunda Marozva(30), Constantine Makore (37) and Onward Zinzombe (36) were deployed at the Mann Goodhope gold-rush site and were armed with a shotgun and revolver.

At around 9pm, the deceased and his co-accused tried to breach security barriers, resulting in the security guards firing warning shots.

A tussle ensure between the illegal gold miners and security guards, which resulted in  Hoko being fatally shot in the chest.
