HARARE – Marjorie Mutemererwa, the former head of public relations for SeedCo, has accused businessman Shingi Munyeza of defrauding her of US$85 000 in a botched investment deal.
She was supposed to appear in court on Saturday to allow the prosecution to determine whether there was sufficient evidence to pursue criminal charges against Munyeza.
However, she did not show up and the prosecution could evaluate their case.
The businessman was subsequently returned to the custody of the police for further case management.
Munyeza is accused of defrauding Mutemererwa of US$85 000 by tricking her into thinking he would reimburse her with interest up to US$100,000 by the end of January this year.
Mutemererwa reportedly went to the police after Munyeza allegedly failed to return the money within the predetermined timelines.
