Ruling party disowns machete gangs

ZANU PF secretary for Youth Affairs  Pupurai Togarepi has dismissed allegations that top party officials are sponsoring machete gangs across the country.

Media reports have alleged that machete gang-wars are sponsored by top politicians aligned to Zanu PF.

Togarepi Pupurai told Zim Morning Post on Monday, that if there were politicians sponsoring machete gangs and the illegal extraction of gold, then these were not from Zanu PF.

“Zanu PF has no links with machete criminals.

“They are doing what they are doing in their name own name and not our party,” Togarepi said.

“The culprits must be arrested and law enforcement agencies should ignore name-dropping by those criminals.

“I urge members of the police to apprehend them” he said.

“We know many-a-time people who create machinations.

“However, if there is anyone claiming to be associated with Zanu PF and is involved in these criminal activities, let the law take its course.

“They must be jailed. Machete gangsters must fall,” Togarepi said.
