The MDC Alliance will tomorrow (14 February) celebrate the life of the late Icon Dr Morgan Richard Tsvangirai who succumbed to cancer of the colony on 14 February 2018.
Tsvangirai led the Movement for Democratic Change since its formation in 1999 till his death. The MDC has organized a memorial lecture for the former leader be held at Harare Show Grounds in Rajiv Gandhi Hall.
The event will see various speakers talk about Tsvangira’s history and the role he played in the fight for the democratization of Zimbabwe.
Tsvangirai was once charged with treason during the Mugabe era but was later acquitted by the High Court. During incarceration, he sustained several injuries at the hands of the police. Tsvangirai served as the Prime Minister of Zimbabwe during the Inclusive Government era from 2009 to 2013.
In an interview with this publication, Vimbai Java Tsvangirai, (daughter) said the Tsvangirai family will also host another memorial in Buhera Humanikwa Village
