Mberengwa school heads forced to write anti-sanctions essays

PROGRESSIVE Teachers Association of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) , has on Wednesday taken a swipe at the forcing of school heads in Mberengwa to write anti-sanctions essays.

In a communiqué date October 16, PTUZ president Takavafira Zhou breathed fire at the Mberegwa DSI for allegedly instructing all school heads in the district to pen anti-sanctions essays.

“This is outright abuse of power, Mberengwa DSI has given an ultimatum to all school heads in Mberengwa to write an anti-sanctions essay and submit it tomorrow (Thursday),” wrote Zhou.

“The ultimatum stated that all schools are required to write an essay each on anti-sanctions today and submit it tomorrow morning (Thursday) at  District office for onward transmission to  Harare,” said Zhou.

“Such arrogance of DSI is tantamount to abuse of power and lack of professionalism and treatment of school heads as if they are an extention (sic), of his kitchen.

“ As PTUZ, we urge the Ministry to rein on rogue officials to ensure that districts are run in a professional manner that promotes effective and efficient teaching and learning as products of appropriate supervision, “he added.
