Kuwadzana man up for selling stolen pistol

A KUWADZANA man was on Friday arraigned at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts after he attempted to sell a stolen pistol to one Killian Moyo in Ruwa.

Lorraine Rupiya and his co-accused female accomplice Blessing Matasva, who has already appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts, having been arrested first, is facing similar allegations of unlawful possession of a firearm.

It is the State’s case that on February 25, at Pick and Pay Supermarket in Ruwa, the accused approached Killian Moyo, who was in his car and told him he was selling a pistol for US$70.

Moyo allegedly told the accused to get into his vehicle, which the accused allegedlly did.

It is said Moyo immediately alerted the Ruwa Zimbabwe Republic Police’s neighborhood watch.

The ZRP neighbourhood watch immediately arrested Matasva.

Rupiya reportedly successfully evaded the arrest.

He was, however, arrested on February 27 in Kuwadzana High Density Suburb.

The ZRP reportedly recovered a 9 millimetre FN pistol with an empty magazine.

Upon her arrest, Matasva indicated that she stole the firearm at a house in Prince Edward Road, Harare.

The firearm was registered in Maio Carlos Pamalhete’s name under the Central Firearm Registry.
