JUST IN: High Court declares Chamisa’s presidency illegal

The High Court has on Wednesday declared Nelson Chamisa’s presidency of the MDC Alliance as unconstitutional.

It ordered the party to refer back to the 2014 structures .

Chamisa rose to MDC A presidency after the death of Morgan Tsvangirai in 2018.

As previously reported in this publication, according to party constitution Chamisa’s tenure as president ended on February 14 2019.

The High Court ruling follows a challenge on the legality of Chamisa’s presidency by a Gokwe man.

The party’s national elective congress is slated for May 24 to May 26.
