HARARE – CCC Member of Parliament Charlton Hwende was summoned to the police today and charged with contravening section 164 (C) of the Cyber Security and Data Protection Act.
It was alleged that one Morelife Mago filed a complaint against Hwende after he posted on Twitter that someone called Morelife was into drug peddling.
“The Drug awareness Campaign in Kuwadzana will soon reach another level. After our community meetings drug dealers like “Monya” in Kuwadzana Ext &the Senior Police officers taking bribes from these Drug lords shall be named, shamed and arrested.”
“Many people in Kuwadzana Extension know Mukadzi anonzi Morelife she must be arrested for selling drugs to our kids. Police Zimbabwe please push the Police in Kuwadzana to act. Reshuffle the team dealing with drugs most of them are compromised,” Hwende wrote.
One Morelife Mago then reported Hwende to the police for causing her psychological pain.
Hwende’s lawyer, Darlington Marange, demanded protection of the MP as a whistle-blower and for the police to fully probe the complainant
