A Harare lawyer has been dragged to court on allegations of fraud after he sold a property that had been attached by the High court to an unsuspecting property seeker for $230 000.
Puwai Chiuyai who is being represented by Admire Rubaya appeared before Harare magistrate Vongai Guuriro- Muchuchuti on Monday facing fraud charges.
He was not asked to plead by the court but during his bail application, he denied the allegations indicating that he had never misrepresented to anyone.
The court is yet to make a bail ruling.
The State led by Sebastian Mutizirwa did not oppose granting the lawyer bail indicating that he was not a flight risk.
Allegations
are that sometime in 2017, the land was sold to Bariade Investments Pvt LTD.
The accused lost the ownership of the property and tried to appeal at the
High Court but all his appeals were trashed, even at the Supreme Court
Knowing that the property had already been sold by the High Court , Chiutsi
approached the complainant and told her that his property was up for sale.
