Harare businessman and controversial socialite Genius’ Ginimbi’ Kadungure’s passport has been temporarily released yet again by a Harare Magistrate pending his trial.
The application was granted by Harare magistrate Barbra Mateko and Kadungure was ordered to return it on May 11.
His passport was surrendered back with the court on March 18 after it was temporarily released again.
Luck is on the socialites side as other individuals appearing before the same court have been denied their passports for less than a week but the State did not oppose his request.
On the previous bail application, the State did not also oppose him being granted bail Kadungure is facing charges of tax evasion in which the State is alleging that between February 2009 and May 2016, his company Piko Trading Private Limited misrepresented to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) that it made total sales of $2 777 678, inclusive of Value Added Tax, when in actual fact the company had made sales amounting to $9 092 951.
ZIMRA suffered a prejudice of $417 940, and Kadungure is also being accused of evading tax in his personal capacity, with ZIMRA suffering a total prejudice of $3 468 949.
