A Chitungwiza and Manyame Rural Residents Association (CAMERA), director Marvelous Khumalo has been suspended with immediate effect.
In a letter, the CAMERA Board Secretary, Davison Mupona said Khumalo has tarnished the image of the organization because of his recent arrests and allegations of fraud.
“I write to inform you of the decision to suspend you from the position of Director with immediate effect,” Mupona said.
“The decision has been necessitated by three reasons. We have noted over a long period of time that you are now compromised vis-a-vis your role of speaking on behalf of residents. You are now captured by the Town Clerk Mr Makunde.
“Your closeness to him due to the deals you do together make you see no evil or hear no evil.
“In fact you are now more of a Public Relations Officer of Council,” he said.
He further said Khumalo’s recent arrest and admission of guilty on allegations of defrauding a resident of USD$7 500 in a land deal has terribly soiled the name of the organization.
“You have become more of a land baron than anything else. You are seen at Council on a daily bases busy selling residential and commercial stands. This is a vice we are known to stand against, hence your actions only drag the name of CAMERA into disrepute.
“We will do a formal hearing at a date to be advised. In the mean time you are advised to surrender all CAMERA itinerary which were entrusted with you,” he said.
