THE fight against Covid-19 has suffered a major setback following the temporary suspension of testing by one of the country’s major laboratories, Lancet Clinical laboratories.
In a statement released Wednesday, Lancet said the development is owing to the servicing of testing equipment.
“Please note that we have temporarily suspended Covid-19 testing while our testing equipment is being serviced.
“We expect to be up and running within a few days,” read the statement.
The ill-timed suspension comes at a time when the country is seized with more cases of casualties.
As of August 4, Zimbabwe had 4221 confirmed cases,81 deaths and 1238 recoveries and 1008 tested patients(Tuesday).
The lack of intensive testing is the major handicap in coming out with the accurate figures of positive cases in Zimbabwe.
