Chitungwiza Mayor Lovemore Maiko has called Residents in the dormitory town to practice good hygiene and follow what has been advised in the quest to flatten the curve of the deadly virus.
In an interview with Zim Morning Post Maiko said that some residents were taking the pandemic as a joke.
“COVID-19 is real and it is important to follow what has been advised so that we fight this global pandemic,” Maiko
“Yes we have water challenges but we have managed to drill some boreholes and our councillors have been moving around at these boreholes educating residents about the importance of social distancing when fetching water at these boreholes,” Maiko said.
Chitungwiza has been experiencing erratic water supplies and it has been dragged to court by Chitungwiza Residents Trust for the city to provide uninterrupted water supply during the lock down.
However Maiko appealed to the business community and individuals to offer support in terms of water supply.
“We call upon the business players to come to party as their assistance is greatly appreciated,” Maiko said.
