MUTARE – TWO of the country’s top musicians, Alick Macheso and Selmor Mtukudzi are set to perform on Christmas Day at Mutare’s top entertainment haven – The Platinum Bar – in a potentially explosive festive treat.
The Christmas day partying begins from midday to the next day, as backing artistes from Mutare take turns to entertain the masses, while Macheso and Mtukudzi cap a night of potential bliss.
The mouth-watering entertainment dish will see arguably the country’s
most revered performers sparring in an enticing musical contest that
is expected to draw a gigantic crowd considering that it will be a special moment – Christmas day – and it will be Mtukudzi’s maiden time performance at Platinum Bar.
Macheso has become a darling of Mutare fans and he has never disappointed when he hunts in this hard to please Manicaland jungle.
Extra Basso, as Macheso is commonly known in the musical circles last
performed in a packed venue last October and left
the audience captivated with his breathtaking guitar playing antics and splendid stage work by his entourage – The Orchestra Mberikwazvo.
Macheso will be riding on his extremely triumphant album –Dzinosvitsa
Kure – that is currently at peak.
Christmas night he is expected to be at his best, as he belts out popular tracks that have kept his loyal fans at tender hooks.
Songs like Kudzwai, Ndakakutadzirei, Vane Zvavanoda and Madzitete from the latest offering, among others, have been very popular during live shows.
The fans will be in a potential treat as they will relish songs from Macheso’s forthcoming album amid a live performance laden with heavy and intricate guitars.
As usual the dancers led by Selemani “MaJuice” Mposhi will be available to enthuse the audience with their exhilarating choreography.
Selmor has been received very well by the fans as she has taken good charge of his late father Oliver Mtukudzi’s Black Spirit band.
Considering her local and international shows successes, Selmor has become a favourite within Tuku music faithfuls.
Her stage antics with Picky Kasamba who was Tuku’s long serving member seem to have struck the right codes.
Selmor is expected to churn out hits that include plug track Nguva Yangu, Kudzoka Kwababa and Mhembwe Rudzi.
Of cause the popular Hangasa will definitely be on the menu. The show promoter, popular businessman and philanthropist Isau Mupfumi said it was a rare opportunity to bring the two top stars together.
“This will be a show with a difference. It is a big show that will see the
fans in Mutare enjoying quality Christmas time. I therefore invite all the music lovers to come in their numbers and enjoy the Christmas party through music,” said Mupfumi.
“This is the first time that we have brought Selmor at Platinum Bar and all those who love the late Mtukudzi must come and watch his daughter in live action,” he said.
