Chegutu Man Kills Friend Over Snatching and Eating His Apple

A 23-year-old man from Chegutu has been arrested for killing his friend over snatching and eating his apple.

The Fateful Encounter

According to the reports, the deceased, Personal Mwasaru, was walking with his friend when the latter received an apple from a relative. Mwasaru was then handed the apple to put it in his plastic bag. However, after the two parted ways, Mwasaru’s friend realized he had left the apple with Mwasaru.

Deadly Confrontation

Upon realizing he had left his apple with Mwasaru, he followed him only to find out Mwasaru had already eaten it. The two had an argument over the apple, and that angered Mwasaru’s friend. He then started battering Mwasaru on the head, nose, and mouth several times before stabbing him with a knife behind his left ear.

The Tragic Aftermath

Mwasaru was left lying on the ground, and some good Samaritans rushed him to the Chegutu District Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he did not make it, as he died upon admission at the hospital.

Arrest and Detention

Mwasaru’s friend was arrested two days after the incident and is currently in custody until August 2, 2024, as the investigation continues.

Husband Murders Wife Over Porridge Dispute

In another tragic incident, a husband has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife. He appeared before the Plumtree Magistrate’s Court, facing murder charges. The court heard that the couple had an argument over porridge that angered the husband. He then struck his wife’s head with a pick before striking her with a hammer. The wife died instantly after the hammer struck her head.
