A 29-year-old man has been arraigned before the Harare Magistrate court, accused of stealing Tel-One postal telecommunications Company’s cable in Hatfield worth US$7 250.

The court heard that on the 9th of March 2022 the accused Tawanda Hove and his accomplices who are still on the run hatched a plan to steal Tel-One cables.

They proceeded to St Patrick road Hatfield Harare where they cut an underground Tel-One cable measuring 250 metres which accused pulled from the ground using his motor vehicle.

The accused and his accomplices pulled the cable more than 2km and got stuck in the mud close to Epworth of which the culprits cut the cable into pieces and loaded them into their get-way motor vehicle.

At around 0300 hours, the accused person was apprehended by the public who had seen them cutting the cables.

The cable worth US$7 250 was recovered together with a hack saw used in cutting the cable and the getaway vehicle.
