HARARE – The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) will, for the first time this year, participate in the MATTA Fair in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 17th -19th March, 2023. Organised by the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA), it is the biggest travel fair in the country, and is attended by visitors from a wide range of global backgrounds.
The delegation from Zimbabwe is being led by ZTA’s Executive Director for International Marketing, Jeffrey Manjengwa, and is looking forward to reconnecting with existing contacts and establishing relationships with new trade and media contacts, in order to enhance destination awareness. This participation is part of re-engagement and growth efforts between Zimbabwe and Malaysia, leading to increased investments and new tourism initiatives.
The premier travel exposition provides global exposure, offering boundless business opportunities for destinations from Africa. Showcasing over 500 travel and hospitality businesses from across the world, the fair is expected to attract more than 100,000 visitors from Malaysia, ASEAN, and other countries.
Godfrey Koti, Head of Corporate Affairs at ZTA, stated that this is another chance for the country to attract new investments, as well as penetrate major Asian source markets seeking an adventure holiday in Africa. Several inbound and outbound tour operators, based in Malaysia, are also seeking to foster partnerships with Tourism Boards in Africa in order to expand their packages.
This is a welcome opportunity to increase the exposure of Zimbabwe’s rich tourism heritage. Leveraging the Matta Fair to woo investments for the tourism sector could be a major boost for the industry as a whole.
