HARARE – The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has arrested Jeffrey Mubaiwa, Managing Director of JEFFM AUCTIONS (Pvt) Ltd, on allegations of theft of trust property.
Mubaiwa was contracted by NetOne (Pvt) Ltd Zimbabwe to auction obsolete equipment, furniture, and vehicles belonging to the state-owned telecommunications firm. The auction, conducted on July 13, 2024, reportedly generated $172,204.
According to ZACC, Mubaiwa was required to remit the proceeds to NetOne within 48 hours. However, he allegedly deposited only $39,000 and is accused of converting $133,204 to personal use.
Mubaiwa appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court and was released on $100 bail. He was remanded to November 5, 2024, pending further proceedings.
ZACC continues its crackdown on corruption, urging citizens to report any suspected cases of mismanagement or fraud.
