· Four seniors suspended
· No benefits while on suspension
· They should appear before a hearing within 14 days
HARARE City Council has suspended four senior water engineers on allegations of misconduct and neglect of their duties.
The suspended engineers are Simon Muserere (wastewater), Richard Kunyadini (distribution), Artwell Ruhukwa (water production) and Teddy Mafuko.
According to letters written to the four, their charges border on incompetency, inefficiency, habitual and substantial neglect of duties arising from inaction on issues relating to their duties.
They are expected to appear before a disciplinary hearing within the next 14 days. The quartet has been asked to surrender all council equipment in their possession.
Corruption levels at the local authority have reached alarming levels as employees are in the habit of demanding kick-backs, depriving the city of sizeable revenue inflows.
