Strict lockdown regulations to be observed at national hero Sikhosana burial today

THE late national hero Absalom Sikhosana will be buried at the National Heroes Acre Wednesday, where strict COVID-19 lockdown regulations will be observed, Zim Morning Post has learnt.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa will preside over the burial ceremony and the late hero’s lifeless body arrived in the capital on Tuesday from Bulawayo.

Top soldiers, Major Generals Kasirai Tazira and Paul Chima received the body at the traditional One Commando barracks in Cranbone.

Sikhosana was described as a selfless politician in different eulogies delivered by people across the political divide.

Mnangagwa described the late trade unionist as a dedicated cadre.

Always dedicated to the freedom and service of his people, Cde Sikhosana distinguished himself as a long-time leader of our Youth League, in the process moulding several youths many of whom matured politically, becoming dependable leaders in different echelons of our party Zanu PF and in different sectors of our society.

Genial but firm, respectful and soft-spoken but unwavering, the late Cde Sikhosana was always faithful to the party line and would be relied upon to undertake onerous chores for the party in different provinces of our country. In all this throughout his political career, the late hero exemplified unity and cohesion in the party, a demeanour which made him approachable and acceptable across all organs of our party. We will miss him sorely,” said Mnangagwa.

Sikhosana joined the struggle in 1977 and trained in Zambia.
