Private sector urged to complement govt re-engagement efforts

PRIVATE sector sector has been urged to complement government efforts of luring investors through participation in international business expos,Zim Morning Post has learnt.

This comes ahead of invitation for private sector participation in the Dubai Expo 2020 Dubai a business interactive platform that can open doors for investments.

Speaking during a meeting in the capital Wednesday,  Ambassador Mary Mubi and Mayor Herbert Gomba said Harare will participate at the exhibition to market the Harare brand and lure investors.

We are working on an urban renewal project in Mbare .

“Dubai will be a good platform for us to lure investors for the project .

“It is also a platform for other cities and towns to market their products and attract investment,” Gomba said.

He said council will utilise the xxpo to attract investors and urged the government to review policies that are chasing investors away.

 Mubi said:

“The projects to be showcased should be well documented in a form that gives guidelines to investors and commitment to the interested investors. They should be broken down into smaller projects for investors with specific interests in the project.”

President Mnangagwa’s administration has been riding on ‘Zim is open for business’ mantra where Harare is making efforts of re-engagement with previously hostile nation.

He has been enjoying a purple patch so far, but on Tuesday some sections of the diplomatic missions castigated government for police’s response on the MDC sponsored demonstrations.

Government responded by hitting back at the diplomatic missions for being ‘hypocrites’ an impasse that can result in a diplomatic tiff that can scuttle the re-engagement policy.
