Harare — Identities Media has opened nominations for the second edition of The List Awards, a prestigious platform that recognises unsung heroes and changemakers across Zimbabwe and Africa. Nominations will run from 8 July to 17 August 2025.
The awards celebrate individuals—men, women, and youth—who have shown “at least five years of impactful, selfless commitment to advancing social good, innovation, and community well-being.” Organisations are not eligible.
“The List Awards are a disruptive model in the awards space, setting a new benchmark by ensuring that winners and finalists do not just receive recognition but also walk away with prize money and other tangible benefits, including strategic media visibility and valuable networking opportunities (subject to sponsorship),” Identities Media said in a statement. “This approach restores dignity in the awards fraternity and supports community champions in continuing their vital work.”
The awards cover 13 diverse categories, including Business Impact, Humanitarian Impact, Social Impact, Climate and Environment Impact, Human Rights, Storytelling, Sports, and Emerging Technologies. Three categories are open to participants from across Southern and East Africa, although Zimbabweans are excluded from two of these: the Artist Pan African Impact Award and the Role Model Pan African Impact Award.
“In line with global best practices, the Selection Committee for The List Awards operates independently to ensure transparency, integrity, and fairness throughout the nomination and selection processes,” the organisers said. “This independence was established by The List Awards Advisory Board, which recognised the importance of a separate committee empowered to manage the entire selection framework.”
Nominees will be evaluated on “innovation, measurable impact, sustainability, and community leadership.” The process is described as “fair, unbiased… while upholding the confidentiality and integrity of every nomination.”
This year’s edition also introduces professional workshops in Harare for finalists and winners, aimed at enhancing their capacity to drive positive change. Finalists will attend the awards ceremony free of charge and may bring one guest at a discounted rate.
“The List Awards 2025 2nd Edition is more than an event; it is a movement that uplifts, inspires, and celebrates individuals who go beyond personal or professional gain to serve their communities with passion and integrity,” the organisers added.
