The Amalgamated Rural teachers Union of Zimbabwe ( ARTUZ) say teachers will remain incapacitated until government comes up with a long lasting solution to the salary crisis at hand.
In a statement dated 6 January 2022, ARTUZ said the Covid -19 risk allowance of Usd75 promised to them will not stop them from pushing for better salaries.
“In the same vein it is fundamental to note that this Covid allowance hush money does not and will not defeat incapacitation, teachers demand a lasting solution to this crisis currently enveloping the profession” reads the statement.
ARTUZ also said teachers will not rest and will roam the streets soon if the situation is not properly resolved.
“Our employer should start taking us serious seriously for winter is coming and it is coming hard, these are not threats but reality of the coming storm when every teacher will vacate their school premises and make the streets out homes,” reads the statement.
In responses to the letter issued by the Public Service Commission on the Covid-19 risk allowance to civil servants and pensioners. ARTUZ has refused to come to terms with the USD75 saying they want to reach their USD 540 objective.
