HARARE — Two women accused of setting fire to a Harare apartment and destroying property belonging to popular musician Trevor Dongo have been remanded in custody on charges of malicious damage to property.
Tanaka Mafukidze, 24, and Prudent Chipo Musimike, 25, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court and are expected to stand trial on June 11, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said in a statement.
The incident occurred on March 21 at 9 Residell Court.
According to the NPAZ, Dongo had invited Mafukidze—his girlfriend—over to his apartment. She arrived with Musimike. A dispute reportedly erupted after Dongo questioned Musimike’s presence. He left the apartment to pick up a friend, and during his absence, the two women allegedly continued arguing and set the flat on fire.
Dongo returned to find the apartment in flames. The estimated value of the damaged property is US$21,178.
