VILLAGERS in Muchini area of Buhera South were recently left dumbfounded and in a state of shock after a 17-year-old boy confessed to the gruesome murder of three senior citizens.
The three senior citizens, one aged 86, his 74-year-old wife as well as his 80-year-old sister were all allegedly murdered in cold blood on Thursday night by the teenager from the same village.
Buhera South legislator, Joseph Chinotimba, who is related to the deceased, said they were yet to come to terms with the loss of three family members.
“We are shocked as a family and can’t even begin to think of what could have gone wrong,” Chinotimba said.
“We can’t even imagine what may have gone wrong to cause the perpetration of these murders particularly for a boy as young as 17,” he said.
Police officer commanding Chipinge district, Chief Superintendent Kennedy Nyaumwe confirmed the incident, saying investigations were still under way.
While confessing, the 17-year-old said: “I arrived at around 11pm from a bar intending to kill them. These people killed my parents when I was still young,” he said.
“I only wanted to kill the man as his wife liked me a lot. I do not know why I ended up killing the woman,” he added.
